The laptop is very fast and can handle games very well. It comes with an empty bay for a second hard drive (I added a 128GB SSD), and an empty memory slot (plan on expanding from 12GB to 16GB). For the money (I got this on a Black Friday deal), the laptop was a bargain given the performance.
The battery is ok, but lasts for at least 2 hours unplugged and playing games the entire time. The outer shell keeps fingerprints for a long time and smudges easily. The laptop is a big heavy, but not a big deal.

This is my second Acer Aspire. The first one was great but I spilled liquid on it and the damage was enough I had to buy another. This new one is even better than the other, and I am very happy with it. The size is perfect for me, the keyboard is comfortable, the pad is bigger, and the quality of the case is better -- not flimsy.
The battery life still is poor although better than with my first laptop. The other con is that the OS now is Windows 8 which is truly horrible. I want my Windows 7 back! That is a Microsoft issue but buyers need to be aware of it.
